Atopos was a project which occurred in November 2023, during my stay at George Enescu National University of Arts in Iasi, Romania, as part of their international residency programme. Continuing the mixed media approach I have adopted in 2022 in KuBa:Kulturbahnhof and in 2019 at the Old School Residency, I explored themes of emotional ineffability, dislocation, alienation and fragmentation. I worked on several mediums at the same time, creating experimental cut-out drawings, etchings and paintings, with the aim of creating a collage - installation.

The act of drawing and painting were used as a form of visual research and the theme of atopy emerged through this mixed-media process.

The project resulted in a presentation at Aparte Gallery in Iasi and was funded by the European Union via the ‘Culture Moves Europe’ mobility grant, administered by the Goethe Foundation.
