KuBa: Kulturbahnhof residency, October 2022

After a two and a half year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I travelled to the village of Klein Warnow in Brandenburg, Germany in order to live and work at the KuBa residency.

The purpose of the residency was to explore mixed-media approaches in making and presenting paintings. Through this residency I have also began incorporating printmaking into my practise.

The result of my experimentations was a large-scale installation which used original paintings and drawings and copious amounts of paper cut-outs. The installation expands the possibilities of viewing and experiencing painting and drawing, as it disguises and hides certain areas, while revealing others, creating a sculptural collage-installation that demands active participation from the viewer.

In many ways the installation at KuBa is a continuation of the work I did three years prior at the Old School Residency in Bulgaria, which you can view here.
